[...] A stock’s character, particularly in recent weeks and months, will play a major role in how (or even if) it should be traded. Watching at recent history to see if a stock tends to make good multi-day moves in a trending fashion, or if instead it typically makes quick one-day splashes followed by indecision will go a long way in helping you determine your strategy in trading it. Some stocks make habits of trending smoothly, while others gap frequently or may simply ignore indicators you rely on in your trading method, and each of these factors should be weighed before an entry is considered. Every stock has a personality, and the key to good trading lies in finding stocks whose personalities match your trading style. [...]

[...] From Jeff White: At the end of the day, price is the most important element in any trade, and no indicator is the magic bullet that your trading has been lacking. Price is the sole indicator which is telling you right now whether you are right (profitable) or wrong (losing), and it doesn’t get any simpler than that. [...]

For short term trading (2 to 10 days) I use a simple percent above the 20 day low price to determine buy or sell signals. Near zero to buy, near 100 to sell. I agree price is the most important thing in trading. The time period used is up to the trader.

Hey Jonathan,

I checked out your blog as well and it's also a great read. Keep up the good work!

I think the key is just using indicators as a confirmation tool to what you're already seeing in price. I've never been one to base trades solely off any indicator, but on occasion I'll apply one to the chart if I need a nudge while making up my mind. Sounds like you do something similar.

Thanks for the comment and come back soon! Trade well,

Jeff
