Stocks & Commodities Magazine Interview

Stocks and Commodities Magazine

I’m honored to be appearing in the March ‘08 issue of Stocks & Commodities Magazine as the feature interview, as it’s a great publication that I’ve read for years. They have interviewed some great traders over the years whom I’ve learned a great deal from, so when asked about my interest in being included I didn’t even hesitate. Here’s a snippet of the interview on the S&C website, but you can buy the full issue at any major bookstore.

To those of you S&C readers who arrived here as a result of that interview, let me welcome you to the blog! For a quick tour of the blog, this post is a good place to begin as it hits some of the highlights and favorite posts.

Thanks for stopping by to visit, and I hope you’ll return often. Enjoy the long holiday weekend!

Welcome TraderInterview Readers!

Just wanted to say thanks for stopping by to those of you who heard my interview at TraderInterviews.com this week. I thoroughly enjoyed the visit with Tim Bourquin as he runs an excellent site and knows a lot about the trading industry. I also hope that you found something useful from hearing about my approach to the market during my interview.

Those of you who haven’t visited TraderInterviews.com should check it out, there’s lots of great info provided by quite a few traders of varying styles and timeframes. Needless to say, I am honored and humbled to have been invited to participate!

While you’re here, I should point you to a post I put up last week when I welcomed Barron’s readers. That post outlines some key posts here at the blog and explains a bit about what I do and my trading style. It’s a great way to get an overview of how I operate. I’m glad you’re here and hope you’ll return frequently in the future.

Happy Thanksgiving to all, and I will be back next week with some new posts to share here. See you then!

My Best Investment Ever - It’s A Boy!

Last week I became a dad, and needless to say I am thoroughly thrilled! I’ll be back writing in a few days, but just had to share the big news. Baby boy weighed in at 5lb. 13oz., and is happy and healthy at home with mama. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

At times in life, events and people come along to put everything into perspective for us, and that’s particularly true for us as traders. The flickering numbers and charts on our screens often become all too important to us until something else reminds us what life’s really all about. Whether trading is a hobby or a profession for you, I’m sure you’ve had weeks where your trading results dictated your moods, and others during which you never even thought about trading because it’s been farther down the priority list. The past few days for me can definitely be described as the latter!

In a couple more days I’ll make the transition back to full-time trader and you’ll find some market-related content showing up here again, but at the moment I’m loving the opportunity to tend to my personal life and adjust to my new role as a father! What an experience!

P.S. Check out the time stamp on this post! :-)

Real Rally or Just Bull Ticks?

The bulls managed a nice gain last week and they only had 70% of the usual time to accomplish it. Nonetheless, it was a solid advance with several of the indexes going 4-for-4. Impressive stuff! Of course there will be lots of skeptics who argue that the volume wasn’t good enough to justify the move, but the volume is widely expected to be light every year during the July 4th week. Not to mention that price is always far more important.

Be sure to check out this week’s Market View page over at TheStockBandit.com for a closer look at the indexes for more of my comments. And don’t forget to sign up for the the Free Trading Newsletter to catch tomorrow’s issue before you start your trading week.

Trade well this week!
